COSMOGEL® 942DC

COSMOGEL™ 942DC is a cross-linked polymer of polyacrylic acid, used widely in personal care for its safety and versatility COSMOGEL 942DC is ph-sensitive, upon dissolution and neutralization it makes sparkling clear gels.

Applications

COSMOGEL 942DC solution is characterized by fast dissolution, high viscosity and clarity. It is very suitable for the preparation of sparkling clear gels as well as for stabilizing emulsions. It is also used to thicken some surfactant systems, and is excellent for suspending heavy particles. COSMOGEL™ 942DC is fastly hydrated in water and is most indicated for the preparation of disinfectant gels with high alcohol content. Increasing the pH of the solution to over 6.0, gives a clear gel structure. Normal percentage of use is between 0.1 - 1,5% depending on type of formulation and final desired viscosity USE COSMOGEL™ 942DC is dispersed into water and neutralized with an appropriate base, a clear gel is formed. Turbulent agitation should be avoided to prevent trapping of air which would be difficult to remove from the finished product. COSMOGEL 942DC can be dispersed also in the oil phase obtaining free flowing dispersions with concentration over 30%. COSMOGEL™ 942DC neutralization can be carried out with inorganic bases (such as NaOH, KOH, NH4OH) or with organic amines such as (TEA, AMP, AMPD). It is advisable to add strong bases previously diluted into water at a concentration not higher than 10%. inorganic bivalent bases must be avoided because a ionic cross-link can occur causing precipitation of the polymer.

Packaging

COSMOGEL 942DC is packed in boxes of 20 kg on wrapped pallets of 400 kg net.
